Dead Reckoning Tavern

Craft beers? Records? Yes, please. Last week, I visited Dead Reckoning Tavern (located at 815 J St. in Arcata) for the first time. They have a fine selection of draft and bottled beers, a small record shop adjacent to the bar, and a DJ booth with a turntable system.

When I approached the DJ booth, I was excited to see The Mystery Lights‘ self-titled record on display, because they are originally from Salinas, CA, which is near my hometown in Monterey. The Mystery Lights, an electrifying psychedelic garage rock band, are doing quite well for themselves these days in NYC – they recently released their debut LP through Wick Records, a subsidiary of the renowned Daptone Records (Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Charles Bradley, etc.) and currently touring sold-out shows in Europe.

All in all, Dead Reckoning Tavern is an excellent establishment. Highly recommended for lovers of craft beer and records. Cheers!
